N100 serious problem on start up

2008-04-04, 8:32 AM
Hi all,

I own a Lenovo 3000 N100 0768/6VG from Oct 2006 and everything was working properly but now I am facing a serious problem.
The Notebook does not startup. I press the power button, I hear 2 bip, the fan cooler works for a second, cd light on for a second, 2 more bip and then nothing else. The LCD remains black with the power light on. There is no difference whether I have the battery on or the AC power.
I tried the hard reset (holding the power button for 10 sec) but the problem remains the same :smileysad:.

What should I do?

Thanks

Are you also seeing a numerical error code?  Two beeps usually mean that the memory or mainboard are the cause.
Have a look in the Hardware Maintainance Manual for "beep symptoms"

Thanks andyP for your prompt response.

I see no numeric error code. The screen is totally black. Two short beeps and black screen means 1. System board and 2. DIMM.
Gould you pls tell me what System Board problem means? Is a services center issue?

Thanks again

Have you added anything to the systm because that could overload the motherboard.

No, my system has all its factory features. The only thing I have to mention is that I was working with the AC power without the battery and suddenly I had a cut off the power. The next time I tried to startup my system I had all that symptoms.

thanks esaglik

Hi all

I install a new printer cd and had a UBS at the same time attached to my Lenovo 3000 N100.
Now it does not boot and just says
0701:USB Over Current On HC/Port-Bus:OOH:Dev:1DH Fun:OOH/Port:OOH

What is the solution? And if anybody knows any place for repairing and fixing this type of notebook please let me know.

Thanks a lot.my e-mail is dfhash@yahoo.com

Unfortunately I had to change the motherboard for 340,00 euros (work incl). Know everything works fine :smileyhappy:except the system update. I think it can not dedect my system. I get the message "error 75".
How could I solve it?

Thanks

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  I bought it as a backup laptop and have used it less than 10 hours an its out of warranty.  Not like my T60 by far.
