N200 recording /enabling / disabling internal & external microphone

2008-09-03, 20:47 PM

Hi 3000 N200 support

I have accidentally disabled/deactivated the internal / external microphone device.

Unfortunately, now I am not able to activate / enable the microphone device again.

Please help me to re-activate the internal / external microphone device.

When I open Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording (tab), everything is "dimmed"

and it says that no sound device is installed.

I suppose it's Realtek High Definition Audio device, driver version 6.0.1.5391.

Thanks in advance

Carsten

Under Windows Vista

If you accidentally disabled the interanal/ external microphone device, you should try to go to Contral Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Recording.

Then right click at blank area and check the "Show Disabled Devices". Next Enable internal / external microphone device that you want.

Re: N200 recording device /enabling / disabling internal & external microphone

Hi again

Further info:

Accessories -> Sound Recorder does not recognize any device for recording !

Funny thing is that the sound goes from internal microphone to internal speaker,

but the "recording device" is obviously not active because I can still not record from the internal microphone !

Furthermore, the sound goes NOT go from external microphone (when inserted in mini-jack at the right)

to internal speaker, so here is also a difference between internal & external mic.

Please help me as soon  as possible to reestablish the recording device

Thanks in advance

Carsten

Hi Joseph

Thanks for your hint, I will try that later today when I am home. I am at work now and therefore

not in front of my Lenovo 3000 N200 :-)

I will revert with my experience.

My mic was disabled from the start and apparently couldn't be turned on. In XP, no "Show Disabled Devices" command is available. From the Recording tab, I ran the Wizard that checks the devices and it did enable the mic! It still shows as disabled, can't be monitored in earphones or the speakers and you can't tell if it's on or not, but at least there's no feedback or howling noise that happens with some settings. And it works! So if anything else fails, run "control mmsys.cpl,,3" and start the wizard. If necessary, run sndrec32 to try recording.
