N586 & Energy Management

Hi

I think I mistakenly applied a Windows 8 Energy Management update to Windows 7 64 on a N586 and now the volume and dispaly screen bars do not show.

I'm unable to reload the original drivers: error message "A later version of Energy Management is already installed on this machine. The setup cannot continue"

Now can I resolve this and reinstall the original Energy Management driver?

Many thanks

Alex

Re: N586 & Energy Management

Hi Thanks for the support!

Under Control Panel / Programs and Features / Uninstall a program I find "Energy Management" however when selected to uninstall it prepares to "Install" with no success. When I remove temp files or folders and an uninstall process starts I get these error messages

"Error 1316.A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\Energy Management.msi"

and then some progress then an error msg

"Error -1603 Fatal error during imstallation ,

Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MDSN for more information"

and then the Wizard message that Energy Management could not be completely installed

Is there another way and I can remove Energy Management and reinstall the drivers?

Thanks

Alex

Re: N586 & Energy Management

I cleaned the registry of Energy Management issues and was able to Repair rather than uninstall Energy Management and now I'm at v8.0.2.14.

However I do not get screen volume or brightness bars when pressing Fn + Arrow keys. How can this be restored?

Regards

Re: N586 & Energy Management

hi

Try going to this link and download the REVO uninstaller Free

http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-free-portable.php

See if it can detect and remove the Power Management Software

Re: N586 & Energy Management

Thanks, I was able to uninstall Energy Management with Revo (on default Medium) recommended deletion of Registry entries and other files. Energy Manager no longer appears in the Control Panel/Programs and Features

All deleted, Cold rebooted, attempted reinstall of cagt26ww but gained error message

"A later version of Energy Management is already installed on this machine. The setup cannot continue"

I ran CCleaner and fixed Registry issues (Energy Management lines seen), Cold rebooted, attempted reinstall of cagt26ww but gained error message

"A later version of Energy Management is already installed on this machine. The setup cannot continue"

The install procedure seems to be referencing a file or Registry entry that prevents re-install - can this be identified and removed?

I appreciate the help being offered!

Regards

Alex

Re: N586 & Energy Management

Just some thoughts...

Running cagt26ww.exe creates a folder C;/Drivers/Lenovo Energy Management Software 7.0?

In this folder softinfo.xml shows the version no. below?

However, I have seen Energy Management before uninstall with v8.0.2.14.

Is this causing the issue?
