Recently purchased a N200 (bargain @ AUD498) but would like to get a zippier cpu to aid performance.
T2330 Dual-core (533 bus)
Intel 965 chipset (95% sure)
Nvidia Go 7300 vga
2GB DDR667 RAM
Now, I've found out that the socket type of my processor is a socket P so I need to stick to them but I'm a little confused by all the different types available. Ideally, I'd like something that's faster but doesn't get too hot and won't kill my battery life, which isn't exactly fantastic at the best of times (2 hours is about all I get).

nice, is it still under warranty???
If you want performance and power saving then go with a Penryn core Core 2 duo, here is a list.
I am pretty sure it is a drop in fit, if it is Intel 965 chipset (maybe someone can confirm this)
This is better than the Merom Santa Rosa Core 2 duo CPU, which is based on the 65 nm architecture.
I would probably go with the cheapest one available the T8100 (3 mb L2 cache, 2.1 ghz), this is the cheapest available for this architecture and offers the performance/battery life you want given the graphics card you use.

Spotted it in a cabinet at Big W, incorrectly labelled as a C200 - the manager honoured the price ;-) It is technically still under warranty with Lenovo, until the end of the year. It may also have a 12 month guarantee through the store...not 100% sure on that.
You mentioned a list in your post - couldn't find it though... I had thought the T5750 would be the way to go but if the model I have supports the 800MHz bus chips that would be good too... Is it just me or are these chips really hard to find??!
Checked the chipset and it's a GM965.
Thanks for the help.

Sorry the posts did not recognise the html format of the list that i posted, but it is hard to obtain the Penryn chip in Australia from store, you may find it on ebay, but buy with caution.
If you are going to upgrade get a better cpu then the T5750 otherwise it would be a waste of money, the performance/battery gain you gain would achieve would be minimum.

I didn't realise the T5750 wouldn't be a good choice - granted it's 65nm and the T8100 is 45nm but at least speedwise it would be an improvement. I've seen the T5750 (used) for around $115 on ebay but I can only find a new T8100...for $250!!
Will any of the T8100s fit my N200? I think I need a FC-PGA (as opposed to the BGA) but that still leaves a few chips to choose from.
Looks like I'll need to do a bit of shopping around.
