Re: RESTARTING INSTEAD OF SHUTTING DOWN

Have you tried going into Windows Device Manager on both machines and disabling the option to "allow this device to wake the computer up" on various hardware components.  Do this for the keyboard, mouse and LAN/wireless and then see what happens after rebooting.

Another thing to try is go into the BIOS Setup on each system and disable the Fast Boot option if it is available.  You can always re-enable it if it doesn't help.

Since the computers are being used for a organization, I wondering if there isn't a third party software application that has been installed on both machines that is causing the problem.  You can try using a program like Autoruns to disable third party applications to see which program is causing the problem.  Here is a link to that program....

Re: RESTARTING INSTEAD OF SHUTTING DOWN

Hi!

I've tried with device manager as shashi_lenovo proposed and that BIOS setting you said without exit.

I'm going to try with "autoruns" and i'll tell you, but i don't think it'll work because in the organization there are lots of lenovo laptops and computers and there are only two of them which behave in this way,

Thanks!!

Re: RESTARTING INSTEAD OF SHUTTING DOWN

Have you tried resetting BIOS to default settings? I read somewhere that this can cure various odd behavior. What you could also try to save time in your diagnosis is to replace the HDD with one pre-installed with a factory reset system partiton. This should give you a better clue about the situation.

Whoops,  in reviewing the thread I see that Shashi_Lenovo had already suggested that. My error, sorry Shashi!

I assume that you have ruled out a virus or malware infection?

Re: RESTARTING INSTEAD OF SHUTTING DOWN

Hi! Sorry for the delay, i've been some days off work.

I tried with autorun and there is not any different software from other computers with correct behaviour in the company

In addition, I've tried reseting the BIOS.....no difference

Today i'm gonna try with some programmes like "Switch off" or "Chameleon shutdown".

Thanks again

Re: RESTARTING INSTEAD OF SHUTTING DOWN

Solved!! It was beacuse of some BIOS settings....

Some days ago a third computer with same behavior has  been reported. I tried some changes on the BIOS and one of them worked.

Load BIOS defaults and then bios settings changed where:

Security\Secure boot\Secure boot --> disabled

Restart\Load setup defaults - Os optimized defaults --> disabled

Thanks everyone!!

Best regards
