To buy or not to buy?

Hi People,
I just need a bit of advice, I think I know the answer but the cynic in me wants some facts to work with.
I need a laptop with two HDD bays and a fixed DVDRW unit.
There is currently a laptop listed on ebay as a Lenovo V110.
The spec is quite clear about storage, it lists that it has 1 HDD, 1 SSD and a DVDRW, indeed, the heading shows "HDD + SSD", the DVDRW is at the end of the heading.
So I went to Lenovo's GB website and of course V110 brings up several variations so I searched for the MPN provided by the seller.
So now I know that it's a V110-15AST.
I couldn't use their chat facility because it requires the equipment's serial number and of course, I haven't got it. However I was able to download a user guide and a hardware maintenance in PDF format.
As far as I can see there is not a second HDD bay, Could someone please clarify this for me. Also, if Lenovo does make a laptop that meets the above then I also need a minimum i3 processor but preferably an i5 and a 17" screen.
Best Regards Terry Bruce.

Re: To buy or not to buy?

Hi TerryABruce,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It would be ideal if you can share the machine number/ MTM (ex.80TD005Vxx). Here we can detail the parts as offered on the variant.

The MTM would be same with the serial (personal ID) that can give us the specification specially if it does have HDD + SSD.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards

Re: To buy or not to buy?

The number I have saya MPM and not MTM buy I'm hoping that it's the same thing.

the number is 80TD000DUK

It also lists an AMD A9 9410 / 2.9 GHz (3.5 GHz Turbo) Processor.

I know this is only a 15.6" screen but I seem to be running out of options.

Thank you for using your time help me out.

Re: To buy or not to buy?

Hi TerryABruce,

Greetings.

Using the MTM from the parts lookup page would show details of the variant. It shows (configuration> model> Commodity type):

1 HDD PN 5H20L22184 RW1D ST1000LM035 1T HDD

1 Optical drive PN 5DX0J46488 HLDS GUE0N DVD RW

No SSD, no secondary storage bay

PN 5B20L80178 MB W 80TD WIN A99410 UMA 4GNFP board. This is an APU product by AMD (not Intel) with AMD Radeon™ R5 Graphics. Intel equivalent of AMD a9 may be Intel Core i5 6200U as compared here. Base Clock 2.9GHz Max Boost Clock 3.5GHz.

Regards

Re: To buy or not to buy?

Thank you very much for your helpful advice and information, it would seem that my suspicion was indeed correct and a secondary HDD bay (of any format) is not part of the spec for this model. I don't suppose the seller means to misrepresent the facts but a bit more attention to detail would be good. It does actually seem like a good specification, I think I'd prefer an Intel chip but I can't think of a good reason to discount the AMD, I've been running one on a Gigabyte board in my tower for 3 or 4 years now with no problems, 3.4 GHz and the board has software to clock it to something stupid, I am not a gamer so I leave that to those that feel the need. Again, thanks for your help, you have been very helpful.

Best Regards       Terry.
