Touch Pad not listed in Device Manager Model E31

Hi there

I'm new to the community looking for assistance please. My touch pad stopped working a couple of weeks ago and since then I have been using a USB mouse which although it gets me by it isn't ideal. I've no idea why it has stopped working as I've not  made any changes to the system and upon checking in Device Manager I noticed that Touch Pad isn't being recognised, just my USB mouse

Please can anyone come up with a suggestion as to what the problem may  be, I am using the Lenove E31 running Windows 7 Professional

Many thanks, any help greatly appreciated

Re: Touch Pad not listed in Device Manager Model E31

Hello Markie57

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try to download the Touchpad and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit.

Has there been any recent updates on the unit?

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: Touch Pad not listed in Device Manager Model E31

Hi Krakken

Many thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested and updated the drivers but unfortunately this did not solve the problem.

The touch pad has worked previously, just for whatever reason it no longer appears within Device Manager

regards

Mark

Re: Touch Pad not listed in Device Manager Model E31

Good morning,

Please can anyone tell me how to enter BIOS on my model E31 operating with Windows 7. I've searched on Google which suggests its button F2 however it doesn't appear to be working for me. I want to access it as my Synaptics device is not listed within Device Manager and although I've downloaed the drivers for it again I get the message that the Synaptics Device is not present. It was working OK so I'm at a loss as to what can have happened and having to use a USB mouse is a right pain. Many thanks, any advice would be reatly appreciated

Re: Touch Pad not listed in Device Manager Model E31

Welcome to the Lenovo Community markie57 !

Not quite sure which E31 model you have, but with the E31-70, accessing the BIOS Setup is done by using the NOVO button.  Please refer to page #27 of the E31-70's User Guide for instructions on how to access the BIOS Setup using the NOVO button.

It sometimes helps to unbend a paper clip and use the thin wire to press the NOVA button due to the small access hole.

Here is a link to that guide for your reference.....
