Windows media player stopped allowing me to burn cds after windows 10 update.

2018-04-05, 12:44 PM

Media player stopped working after an update.Plus media player is no where to be found not even in program list. It has done something for my burner to stop working also. My recovery is also gone too! Windows is deleteing dates to recover from. Going nuts. Has anyone had this happen or found a fix????

Hi Ak1958,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Can you try opening Control Panel then Programs and Features.

Click "Turn Windows features on or off" and then expand Media feature check box for the media player.

You can also reference steps in this article or test if another burner tool work similar to image burner.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

yes have tried that too. Doesnt work. Now have figured out it will burn pics. Just wont burn audio. Maybe windows has put an update out to stop people from burning disks. Even if they own the music? Now going back thru updates to see. But deleting my recovery points? That one is REALLY not right. Will update as I go on. Thanks

Hi Ak1958,

Greetings.

It may be the DRM (digital media rights) that is being checked.

I wonder if using imageburn would do the same.

Try to check if system restore creation is enabled.

With all the changes happening with Windows, it is always useful to have a separate backup of your files just in case.

Regards

I havent proven that so far. I am going to go back thru the updates as this just happened this year. lots on the net about problems people are having with audio burning. The system restore does grip me the most tho. So thank u for your update. I will post a fix as soon as I find it.

Windows update CUMLIT has gone and shut off my restore. It also messed with some of my drivers. It wont even allow me to update my CD drivers. I am not suprised but dissappointed AGAIN with windows. I am pretty sure the company DOES know what they did. If not then thier I-T is worse than I thought???? Switching to APPLE. Hopefully their machine will be better.
