I try to upgrade the BIOS for my new V510-15IKB (Machine Type 80WQ01SVGE).
The version on the website is 2WCN25WW from today (29.03.2017) but the installer says that my notebook is not compatible with this BIOS. Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try to see if the one on the following download link will work.
Try to download the Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page, and try it again.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo!

Thank you for the reply, Krakken.
The file you linked to is the same that I downloaded.
Installing the chipset drivers again also did not change anything.
Error is: Your machine does not match with this BIOS.
BTW, I started from the preinstalled factory image.
I think there is something wrong with the BIOS file.
Pretty disappointing, as we were considering to move from Dell/HP to Lenovo...

Problem still persists for latest BIOS release. Today I contacted Lenovo support, they confirmed that other customers have the problem too and asked me why I would need a BIOS update. Is there more to say? Extremely disappointing.
Factory BIOS is: 0ZCN30WW
BIOS updates on the Lenovo website are 2WCN25WW and 2WCN28WW.
Looks like there is a difference. I hope that they have not flashed the wrong BIOS in factory...

With any of the downloads in the Lenovo File Download Library, the most important number to look for is the version number of the file you are downloading. The Release Date only indicates the date that the file was made available for download and this date can change for a number of reasons. If you view the README file for version 2WCN28WW it states that version was actually released on 04-27-2017 and not 6/11/2017 as shown on the download page.
In your situation is sounds like you already have version 0ZCN30WW installed on your system. If so, then you have the latest version already installed as the versions available for download are older. That may account for the error when trying to update.

I don't understand: I received the notebook on 2017-02-24, so the BIOS can't be newer than 2017-04-27.
Where do you get your information on 0ZCN30WW ??? I don't find anything through Google.
UPDATE: I also see that this notebook has BIOS starting with 0ZCN...
But mine is V510, not V310.
IMHO there is some mess, either with the notebook production or with the website.

Ok, I see what you are saying now. Sorry. I was referencing the number "30" in the BIOS version as the letter combinations have been known to change between BIOS update releases. From your latest post I suspect that the V310 and V510 use the same BIOS version. I will see if I can get a clarification on this.

Thank you in advance! I have attached a screenshot of the BIOS screen, of the dialog when 2WCN28WW BIOS update starts and the error message when it fails.

Thanks for posting the screen images. They should help in trying to resolve the issue.
