It is bit confusing with old ThinkPad S31 that was state of art design including proper keyboard layout.

Puppy,

Yes, I have an S30, predecessor to the system you linked to.  Japan market product (I believe) at the time.

Honestly we have begun to recycle some letter number combinations and this isn't the first.  It can be a bit of a challenge on the e-support site, and here in the forum at times.  By my accounting, we have used all the letters except 'F' as a prefix for series, and some letters redundantly across series - Z60 ThinkPad, Z500 IdeaPad, etc as you point out and that can lead eventually to re-use of some letter-number combinations.

That aside, I think the S31 back in the day was certainly something special, along with the 701c butterfly keyboard.  These were certainly innovative and noteworthy systems.   I'd like to think that some of our newer models like the ThinkPad Yoga and the Helix and their next generation siblings stand out and may well be wistfully revered one day as well.

Perhaps the new U31/41 or S31/41 will be too.   Laptops have changed a lot in size, weight, proportions, performance and battery run time.  So incredible to see how much this has changed over 20 years!

Best regards,

Mark

It's a shame this is limited to 8Gb. I can't quite find a perfect lenovo for me anymore.

A sub 2Kg machine with i7, 512SSD, 16GB and dedicated GPU is hard to find.

If you want quad core too its near impossible unless you go with something like XMG, but I want the lenovo quality!

The new HP zbook 14 and dell latitude 14 5000 i7 are in the right ball park, but just not quite there.

Given that Lenovo is the only player in the market with the quallity that is also configurable I'm really holding out that the new T series delivers something special if the U is falling short!
