L450 has FHD IPS display option while T450s doesn't ? Clever selection of options again.

Still no 15.6" FHD IPS ? The only IPS option, 3K resolution, is the worst one due Windows 8 scaling issues. Both FHD or 4K resolutions would solve it but for FHD resolution Lenovo still offer TN garbage only and the later 4K option is not available at all.

X250 - is the chasis still prone to disk disconnection and data loss ? Does the keyboard have fixed the End key and F keys issue ?

Re: Updates to existing products

T450s has the IPS option - only T450 does not have this option.

The newly announced ThinkPad Yoga 15 has an 15.6" FHD IPS screen (http://news.lenovo.com/images/20034/Lenovo%20ThinkPad%20YOGA%2012%2014%2015%20Spec%20Sheet.pdf)

Lenovo seems to be fixing the end/insert issue for all machines with the smaller keyboard layout, see: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge-S-series/Re-Thinkpad-s1-End-Insert-button-switched-after-l...

So the Yoga gets it but T550 or even W550 workstation don't ? Hard to find any logic there.

Does it apply for X250 as well ?

Re: Updates to existing products

The Yoga is a convertible. Thus, IPS is much more important. T550 on the other hand is a standard business notebook, and large companies don´t care much for IPS, because many company owned laptops are being used in docks with the display closed 90 % of the time anyway. So IPS would be a huge waist of money there. Thats why el-cheapo TN options still exist, and thats the reason why IPS wasn´t offered all these years - now it is offered as an high-end option at least. Skaling should be improved with Windows 10.

Yes, this applies to the X250 as well.

I see. Current keyboard layout actually implies such usage pattern. I remember "old" ThinkPads you could use 100% of time in notebook mode with its own keyboard and pointing device. Yep, it is not modern nor innovative these days, I know. That's why my "next ThinkPad" after X220 will be microtower desktop PC ... unless X270 would be back to its roots Smiley Indifferent

Re: Updates to existing products

The keyboard layout has absolutely NOTHING to do with that. Using notebooks like that is normal in companies since many years.

The only reason some people prefer the old layout is because its more like a standard keyboard layout. Besides that fact, the new layout is much better.

Re: Updates to existing products

Like the W541 refresh, I was hoping Lenovo would do the same with the T440p, espicially given the additonal delay of the quad-core Broadwell chips, so I'd imagine we'll have a wait for the T450p.

Re: Updates to existing products

I purchased a Lenovo X230 in 2012, and it is easily the best machine I've ever had. I cannot believe that that the X240 however only has one memory slot at 8 GB of RAM, and I wish the X250 had two slots. I know of no place to provide this feedback except here, so for the X260 I would strongly recommend make sure it has two DIMM slots.

I literally could not purchase the X250, since I use more than it's maximum RAM regularly. I also don't think that many people are going to go out and by the i7 version if it can only use 8 GB of RAM, that's ridiculous. The X240 and X250 are great midrange laptops, but this RAM limit is ridiculous and limits it's appeal as a higher end laptop.

ThinkPad S series (former S440/S540) are discontinued ?
