Hey Spidey,

I'm from the old days (Linux installs started with a CD, or even a floppy), so it always seems to me that the question should be "does Linux support the X1C9?" ;)  But I get what you mean: no components with specs unavailable to the open source community, compatibility testing/certification, maybe even some driver contribution.  Better yet, a Lenovo-branded install image.

I can't answer your question but I'm also interested... and hopeful.  I'd also be willing to do some testing given the resources :)

Wow!! I can't wait to order.

Any ideas when?

Will it be easy to order the 2TB option in Canada? Seems that our order configurations only allow up to 1 TB?

Since the docking port that was added in Gen 7 / 8 has now disappeared I assume the internal Ethernet has as well? We will need to use CABLE_BO USB C to Ethernet | Adapters | Part Number: 4X90S91831 | Lenovo US for Ethernet?

I expect that to be true.  Another choice would be the Thunderbolt4 dock.

Thanks for asking this Spidey. It's not clear from the CES presentations I've see whether there has been any testing of the more widely used Linux OSs.

At some level I had expected some mention of this based on some of the positive Lenovo+Linux reporting in ZDNet last year.

It would be good to get an answer to this. I'm in the market for a new laptop and this would be a large factor for me.

Given that Ubuntu is a certified OS on the X1 since Gen 5 it is reasonable to assume it will be for Gen 9 as well.
