Sorry you're not having the best experience. There are three routes open to you in order to have your issue escalated; the first option is to contact Support and using an example case number request an escalation, the second is through your organization's Lenovo account representative and the third is to send me a private message to which I will respond with a request for some more details. 

All of the above will result in you being contacted by the correct department.

The problem is the bend in the keyboard ribbon on left side of touchpad. When a student lifts the Chrome Book with the left hand thumb close to track pad, it pinches the ribbon and stops the t, y keys. We took one a apart and rerouted the cable so the bend isn't so drastic. It works. Tell students to lift with right hand only to stay away from ribbon pinch.

Problem found and solved for t, y key. The keyboard ribbon on upper left side of touch pad is pinched when student carries with left hand thumb pressure. Took apart and rerouted ribbon so pinch isn't so severe. Students need to carry with right hand.

Can you please get me a phone number to talk to someone in support on this issue?  I have 18 devices with Lenovo right now, been there since the begining of Oct.  and have 7 more on my desk that need to be sent in.  These are student devices that the kids need in order to do their school work.  It is very frusterating for us to have to try to explain to parents why we are not getting the support we should have.  We purchased over 330 devices and only time will tell how many more will be on my desk in the next day or so.

Yes it's definitely the ribbon cable getting crushed by the keyboard supports next to the trackpad. If I straighten my cable the keys work fine but I can't find a way to keep it straight. The cable is part of the sealed keyboard unit so the whole unit needs replacing - I've found it on sale for $65 which is half the price of the chromebook itself. As is single user I'd have to send the whole unit away and be unable to study when I'll no doubt find out it's not covered under warranty as I've opened it to prove the fault.

I guess for £95 I have 95% of a chromebook.

Hi Andy,

 

We are a small district and are being severly affected by the N22 keyboard issues. 

We have nearly 300 of the N22 models which we just received over the summer. Already, we have had over 30 reports of the keyboard issues.

I am now seeing evidence where some students have not reported the issues since they were not comfortable in doing so. I just received a heart-breaking email from a Mother of a student. It detailed the issues the student has been going through in trying to do school work.

I am quite confident that there are a signifigant number of cases of these keyboard issues that have not yet been reported. We must reach out to the parents to bring these in and get the Chromebooks repaired.

It would be impossible for our district to devote resources and funding to send every one of these chromebooks back to Lenovo for warranty repairs. I am hoping that we can request to have Lenovo send out techs to replace/repair the keyboards.

We would be more than happy to collect all of the N22 models with issues and have them ready for repairs.

This issue is growing by the day, with more N22 models being brought in due to the keyboard issues. Our students are being severly impacted by this.

 

Any help you may be able to provide would be immensely appreciated, and I would be happy to provide additional information in private messages.

I was quickly contacted by a Lenovo tech and he is helping with our situation with the N22 keyboards.
