Does anyone here have the N23 now?  Has this issue shown up in them?  I'm wondering if Lenovo has learned their lesson about this. 

 

Not only have I had N21s and N22s with keyboard problems, before that I had problems with the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge.  There was a spot that shorted out in those as well.  I had a 3 year warranty, and ended up sending 25% of them in for repair for that issue.  After the warranty ran out, I found a fix using electrical tape under the keyboard cable.

 

I was wary of getting the Lenovo Chromebooks, but the price point was there, so we ended up going that route.

Im sure they did learn from the multiple issues they had with the N22's but importantly so did I and have moved on from Lenovo,, until Lenovo can get their customer support level for chromebooks equal to their Thinkpad support.  Im a currently test 80 Acer Spin 11's (Also in stable channel for Andriod Play Apps) and even though the price point is a fraction higher than the N23 Yoga, the Acer support is far superior.

Just back to school and have to ship out 5 Chromebooks, 3 with 5 6 key, 1 with no power and 1 with no boot. Out of our 150 N22's we purchased last year, we've had to send 12 out for repair and 3 were fixed in house due to a lack of budget. 15 of 150 have broken down within 12 months.  We also purchased 75 N23's at the end of the year.

 

The warranties on these run out in 2 days and I fear that our school is in trouble after that if these things keep breaking down with the same issue over and over.  Has Lenovo acknowledged this issue and would they possibly  extended the warranty? Not sure who to contact about this.

I am in the same situation with the warranty running out in mid-September.  But I did take the advice of an earlier poster to contact the company I bought them from.  They have contacted Lenovo and it sounds like Lenovo is willing to work with me on either extending the warranty for this problem, or supplying me with extra keyboards.  I prefer the extra keyboards so I can just fix them and get them back to the students. 

 

I'm still in the process of giving them information, so don't know how it will turn out.  But you might give this a shot.

Contact your sales rep., Lenovo has been giving extended warranties to schools for multiple reasons, Lenovos faulty N22's keys is one. Let them know how this has affected your students and classroom time. I have seen on this post and many others that Larger Schools that buy Lenovo products have more leverage and their process maybe a bit different than what we experience, this is why you should contact your rep that you purchased Lenovo from and they will help you. These issues are affecting class time, student and staff time and we should see Lenovo do the right thing.

I have had a similar problem on my N22, with the "2, w, s, x" keys not working. These fluctuate between working and not, mostly not. It does work when a usb keyboard is used. This has been going on for about 6 months and i have now finally gone to raise a case about it. However I now find the N22 is about 3 months out of warranty! So I am stuck with a cobbled chromebook, with no options, given the overall cost of the device. Very dissapointed.

actually having looked further at this, I realised that my purchase of the N22 from Amazon was actually just under a year ago (despite Lenovo site showing my warranty ran out 3 months back). So a quick online chat with Amazon and I am getting a full refund. I guess every cloud has a silver lining. Apart from this I have been very happy with the N22. However I will now probably look at buying an Acer r11.

It's the same keys - ALL the posts in this thread say the same thing. It doesn't resolve itself and Lenovo said it's investigating the issue.

Hi Andy, 

 

I am having the same problems with the N2 keyboards.  I've tried the Lenovo support line.  The warranty department won't help because we are out of warranty. In this forum, it appears some users recieived replacement service or keyboards free of charge.  Could you please provide with a contact to request free replacement keyboards for this issue? Thank you.
