Flex 5 Chromebook Screen Sleeps after 1 min

My new Flex 5 Chromebook screen goes to sleep after being idle for 1 minute. I can't figure out where to adjust this.

On my batttery setting I have the settings marked WHEN IDLE:

 

While Charging > Keep Display On

While on Battery > Keep Display On

 

Please HELP!  I don't know why this is happening as it seems like my settings are correct.

Welcome to the Community Forums!

 

Just to ask, is there a building icon on your Flex 5 Chromebook's Settings especially in Power (settings)?

 

You may attach a picture or screenshot of your device's Power settings here for us to check.

 

Aside from that, please share here your Flex 5 Chromebook's MTM (machine type-model) number for us to check its specifications as this would help us detail more about your machine variant while keeping the confidentiality of your serial number.

 

It can be seen through the device's label/sticker or its original packaging and does usually have a format of 8********R as an example.

 

Here's a link as well that also contains additional methods in obtaining your device's details.

 

For now, try to do a power drain to your device first by pressing and holding its Power button for 10 to 15 seconds until it turns OFF then power it ON again then test if it will still go to Sleep mode after a minute after being idle.

 

Aside from that, check if the Flex 5 Chromebook is already updated to its latest version as well.

Hi Adriel-

Thank you for your reply and suggested troubleshooting. I have included the status on each item:

  1. I have attached a screenshot of the powersettings. I do not see a building icon.
  2. Here is the system details:
    • Ideapad Flex 5 CB 13IML05

      Model# 82B8

      Serial #xxxxxxxx

  3. The Chomebook is operating on the current Chrome system.
  4. I tried to cycle the power on/off and the computer screen still shut off them idle for 1 min or more.

Any other suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Just to ask as well, are there any device(s, external) that are also plugged to the Flex 5 Chromebook?

 

If yes, perform a power drain by pressing and holding its Power button for 10 to 15 seconds until it turns OFF.

 

Disconnect the devices as well then power on the Flex 5 Chromebook and see if the screen will immediately go to Sleep mode after a minute.

 

If it does, backup all of your files to avoid data loss and proceed in performing a Powerwash or factory reset to your Flex 5 Chromebook.

 

You may check the steps on this link to see how it can be done.

 

Update us how it goes.

To confirm, there are no external devices plugged into the Chromebook.

 

I'll move forward with a Powerwash and let you know.

 

Will you confirm, there seems to be a setting missing, or there is something wrong here, correct? There should be a setting that controls the screen when idle. Can you show me a screen shot of what I should be seeing?

Based on the picture that you've attached on this post, the Settings of your Flex 5 Chromebook isn't managed by someone (like a school or organization admin) since it doesn't have the building icon that we've asked you previously which will prevent you from making any changes on the device.

 

As for the Powerwash, no worries as we'll be waiting for the results of it once performed.
