Memory Test fail

2021-06-10, 8:13 AM

Hey.

I have a Flex 5 CB, and while running the memory test in the Diagnostics app, I keep getting a "Test Fail" result. According to Google, it's probably a hardware issue. How can I address that?

Thanks,

Lior

Hello @ Lio80!

Welcome to the Community Forums!

Just to ask, are you experiencing performance related issues on your Flex 5 Chromebook when using it?

Usually, what often happens is that as more browser tabs are opened, data on older tabs simply disappears.

Also, it will consume more memory if there are multiple apps opened on the device at the same time as well.

Try using one app or tab at a time for now and observe its performance and see if it'll consume much memory.

From there, we'll be able to isolate as well if this is a possible hardware concern that may require repairs.

Thanks,

I ran a memory test without any tabs open and it did return a successful result.

Thanks!

Hello @ Lio80!

Thanks for the update!

It's good to know that it has provided a successful result now, great job!

It would be advisable as well to always monitor the Flex 5 Chromebook's memory usage/consumption when using multiple apps or tasks as it may usually lead to performance related issue(s) like freezing, lagging in the future.

Make sure to have the device be updated to its latest version as well to make sure that it'll run without any issues at all.

You may click on this link to see the steps on how it can be updated.

Feel free to post here again at the Community Forums!

Hope this has helped you out and answered your concerns as well.

Thanks,
