I've had my chromebook for about a year, no problems. As of this weekend, when I plugged some earbud headphones into the laptop while playing a video. The video continued playback through the speakers, and nothing comes out of the headphones. The headphones continue to work fine with other devices. I got my bluetooth headset working with the chromebook as usual. However, I later made a call through Google Hangouts, and the call recipient couldn't make out much of what I was saying, too quiet, distorted. This has never happened before, and a call worked fine with the same headset, different device.
Because this happened abruptly, and because of the concurrent issue with the mircophone over bluetooth, I suspect an update has changed the way the audio system is managed. I tried a hard reboot thus far.
