Re: RMA Shim errors and CrOS troubleshooting

I am having a specific issue, but looking for generalized assistance as well.  I have in front of me an N23 that I am replacing the systemboard in.  Inside the CrOS Factory Test environment, I'm getting an error at RunIn.ShopFloor.WriteHWID, message "Test RunIn.ShopFloor.WriteHWID FAILED: 'version': '1.2.3.34'} (no matching name in the component DB).

With this error, and pretty much any error encountered in CrOS, I am struggling to find information online about potential causes and solutions.  Does anyone have information about this error, or relevant resources to share in regards to other errors that manifest inside CrOS?

Other errors I have seen include "Can't delete ActivateDate, it may not exist in RW_VPD", and "stderr: at least one of key is not existed".

Looking forward to any responses.  Thanks all.

Re: RMA Shim errors and CrOS troubleshooting

Harry, with the writeHWID error you are getting I am wondering if you have failed to remove the write protect screw?  I have not been able to get completely through the test but as long as I can get the serial number entered  I leave it at that.  Usually it fails at "cannot connect to shop floor" or something to that effect with a server IP address listed.

Re: RMA Shim errors and CrOS troubleshooting

I'm getting quite a few replacement boards that give me a "UI Presenter Backend Disconnected" error.  We had an issue with failing HWID last year and it turned out to be an issue with some replacement screens we were using.  Have you replaced any other hardware on these?

Re: RMA Shim errors and CrOS troubleshooting

I've replaced nearly every part on the N23 and 100e at some point.  As for the specific error I mentioned in the OP, it was some kind of faulty or mismatched hardware; I don't remember what types.  I haven't had the issue with the UI Presenter Backend, so I wouldn't know what to tell you about that.

Re: RMA Shim errors and CrOS troubleshooting

Dealing with Lenovo repair shims is VERY frustrating. I had the same problem with an N23. Eventually I figured out that the LCD had been replaced with a non-Lenovo screen. That was causing my HWID failure.
