300S-11IBR Power up issue

2016-09-11, 23:32 PM

Hi. Working on my desktop today, which I purchased new less than 3 months ago, I experienced a power outage and the desktop will no longer respond.

It powers on but I get no power light or disk drive light when I switch on.

The fan works, the optical drive drawer opens and closes, adding external drives all show power but the pc will not respond.

I've unplugged all the peripeherals from the motherboard, unplugged and reconnected all connections and basically got nowhere with it. It was surge protected so I unplugged from the power source and disconnected all other devices. No go. I've tried keeping the power button pressed in for upto 30 seconds and have nothing.

Help!!!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the problem you are experiencing.  Have you tried unplugging the computer from the wall and then remove the motherboard battery?  Once the battery is removed, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.  Then reinstall the battery, plug into the wall and try booting up to see if the issue was resolved.  The battery's socket should have a little tab then when pressed will eject the battery from the socket.

If that didn't resolve the issue then I suspect that your motherboard was damaged and the surge protector didn't totally protect your system.  Most named brand surge protectors offer a protection warranty which would cover the repair.  Otherwise if you have home owner or apartment renter insurance, check to see if they cover power outage surges.

One other thing, did you try plugging the computer directly into the wall thus avoiding the surge protector?  The surge protector may have damage which is limiting its output.
