ACPI Event ID 13 & 15

Hello,

The windows event viewer shows me the following messages.:

The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly.
Source: ACPI
Event ID: 13

Event ID:      15
: The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS.

I already tried this:

- Updating to the latest BIOS version.
- Installing the latest drivers + windows updates
- Reset Windows to factory defaults

But the error keeps appearing. Anyone know what to do next?

Model Type: IdeaCentre 5 14IOB6

OS: Windows 11 Home

Hello @DarkZen,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Are you getting any performance issues?

Could you please try to run a Diagnostic scan yung Lenovo's diagnostic program?

Hope this helps.

Re:ACPI Event ID 13 & 15

Hello @Jack_Lenovo1 thank you for your reply.

I am not getting any performance issues. I was just curious why the system log files generates these errors.

I run a quick and a complete scan with Lenovo Diagnostic software and all the tests passed with no errrors.

Re:ACPI Event ID 13 & 15

Hello @DarkZen,

Thanks for writing back.

If the Hardware diagnostics did not return any issues it might be a false error?

I've come to learn that not all error codes don't necessarily mean something is wrong with the machine.

I'd still keep an eye on it and if the ACPI error causes any issues performance or hardware wise then that's when I'd start to worry.

Re:ACPI Event ID 13 & 15

Hello Jack, thanks for your reply. There are some performance issues, sometimes applications randomly crash. And when i check the windows log files i see the error 13 code ACPI again. I already downgrade Windows 11 back to Windows 10 (clean installation) but even with a clean install the errors still occure.
The warning 15 acpi code occurs on every clean windows boot too (even in safe mode).

Re:ACPI Event ID 13 & 15

Hello @DarkZen,

Sorry for the late reply.

Could you please try to perform a BIOS update?

This would often resolve any issues with the machine.
