Adding a hard drive - 3000/K100

2008-02-01, 5:55 AM
Hello,

I would like to add a second hard drive to my Lenovo 3000 K100.  There's a second bay in there, but I would need another of the Lenovo 3.5" Brackets.  How can I purchase this item?

Eng223,

I'm delighted to hear that our support center was so accomodating  and provided great customer service! :smileyhappy:

As an FYI to all, these rails are presently being provided on an exception basis as a concession.   We are working on establishing a formal fulfillment process for these.

My advice and request to the community is this:

If you are installing a second drive TODAY and absolutely need the rails, then give support a call and they should be able to provide.   However,  if you are considering adding a drive sometime in the future, or are just considering the rails speculatively, I would ask that  you defer ordering them as we are working to establish a formalized and sustainable process.

I'll  update  this thread once the fulfillment process is set up.

Thanks for your understanding....

Hi Mark,
Is it possible that you weigh in on how we should go about recovering the Programs that came with the 3000K100 when we oops on formating the partition. With the rescue key I was able to recover the Programs(Thank God for the OneKEY) but now would like advice on how to back those programs up in case of a hard drive failure or Virus. Thanks again for your company's delightful help on my needs.

Any chance you would still have the number you called for the 2nd hard drive bracket.  I called and they acted like I had lost my mind.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I called about the Blue Hard drive 3.5 adaptor.  The service department said that I had to call the sales department (1-866-426-4465).  When I called the sales department, they acted really stupid, somewhat rude (like I was bothering them), said there was no such part, and told me adding a second hard drive would void my warranty.  The web site is useless.  Guess I will have to figure this one out on my own.  Kinda sorry I purchased this machine now.

PS...Can't use empty 5" bay with drive rail adaptors.  Already filled with power supply extender.

I just had the same issue and the part (41R6064) is not orderable online. I called the warranty number above and they likewise shipped it out next day air no charge. Key thing is to say you tried to order, but the part is not orderable.
