Blue Screen (is NOT a good sign)

2008-05-05, 1:35 AM
Hi, I believe some of the other guys are more qualified to tell you what to do but I know enough to tell you that you have a BIG problem! The Blue Screen, affectionately referred to as the Blue Screen of Death I believe is a Windows problem and my guess is that you probably need to reinstall Windows but I will give you some advice and that is run a Virus Scan every day. Most programs allow you to run a scan automatically and if that's not the case, run the scan wright before you walk away from the computer at night and the results will be waiting for you when you access it in the morning.
Good luck,
Bob

hello there

i see you have not provided your system model or os information..please do provide minimun system info the next time before posting something

iam assuming that you must be using windows xp
if you got xp with your lenovo system...and you want to restore to factory settings use the recovery button during startup and follow the instructions..
if not then simply pop in an xp cd(retail one) reboot the system and follow the given steps
1.go to recover console during setup and use the command "chkdsk /r"

or follow the xp installation procedure untill u get to the partitioning section select the "c drive" and press "r" key from the keyboard
this will start the xp install process but you wont loose any data

but before i can give furthur insturctions will you please provide your system information its very important just tag it to your profile!!!!!!

hello

thnks for the info
i hear that you get no virus alerts then indeed the problem must lie with some faulty software installations....
do you remember installing any software before the blue screen had started appearing??they might be the cause of your problem because vista is a new OS and installing any incompatible software does indeed cause these kinds of incidents...if you can still boot your computer when you see the "lenovo" key next time press F8 repeatedly untill you get a long menu

there choose this option
"last known good configuration"

if this does not work then come back to the menu again enter safe mode log into your account and choose system restore...
there you will find dates on which restore points were created by the system while installing drivers or software....
if you get a date on which you think you computer was fine select that date and proceed this may solve your problem....

if not iam always here to help you   :smileyhappy:

another advisory for you please make recover media from lenovo care if u have not done yet otherwise you may loose your hidden partition(may be)iam sujjesting this because a friend of mine to lost his hidden partition and could do nothing later...it will be waste if you loose your genuine copy of windows so

prevention is always better than cure  :smileyvery-happy:
