Re: Can I upgrade my PC from a 1050 TI to a 1060 6G | LENOVO IdeaCentre 710-25ISH (90FB0053NY)

BiggAl, OP had concerns related to the shape of the video card installed as posted.

But I opened the case yesterday and saw something strange. It looks like the GPU is bending a little bit.

I added a photo of the GPU installed. Is this normal? And how can I fix this?

So I only asked about temps because a warped video card's PCB can cause the cooler not to make good contacted with the graphics processor package.

If you would like take a look at the upside down photo OP posted above to see for your self.

Exactly.  Warping could be due to overheating, and ventilated slot covers will help reduce that.  Still, if it were my card, I'd contact the manufacturer about it, possibly have it replaced, but at least get it on the record that there's a problem with this card.

Can't argue with contacting manufacturer Micro-Star International about the issue or maybe retun to seller but not always an option for all do to location and in this case Netherlands.

Edit: I highly doubt the warping was cased by overheating after installed there's plenty of circulating air within the 710-25ISH case for a GTX 1060 and so card must have been recived this way.

Edi2: Besides the temps given are within specs.

Did you also upgrade the power supply to the 400 watt 54Y8936 that has a 6-pin PCIe supplemental power connector?

Also you better act fast GTX 1060s are not in production anymore and are rapidly disappearing from inventory.

robinhood791 installed a MSI GTX 1060 6GT OC > Amazon , Newegg

Hey, I did upgrade my PC with a 1060 6GB. However, I do have some overheating problems after I gamed for a long period on high demanding games. This is because the case does not have good airflow. I am currently looking into what new case I should buy for my computer to fix this problem. I would recommend you'd the same if you wish to upgrade you're GPU.

Most cards will fit in the prebuild case. It is a pretty big case. Just keep the overheating and power supply in mind.

The PSU has a 6 pin connector. So I didn't need any adapters. Please keep in mind that the 1060 6GB is not produced anymore. Most (web)shops don't sell the 1060 6GB anymore. This means that you need to go for a used card or for one of the newer cards (Keep the power supply in mind! Mine is "only" 400 Watts, and the newest GPUs already uses more than 400W)

I don't have the model number on hand of my GPU.
I installed one of MSI. The MSI Geforce GTX 1060 6G OCV1 Dual FAN edition. (Wich is no longer produced and sold out at most (web) shops)

If you're PSU and case can handle it, I would recommend the GTX 1660 6G

And BTW, is the CPU not soldered to the motherboard? (Never checked that tho)

Hoped I helped you.
If you need more information, just ask me ;)
Let us know what you decided to do!

robinhood791, your card is most likely overheating because it is wraped as stated in post 5 and the cooler is not making good contact with the GPU processor and should start a RMA with MSI for replacement.

Also might be a good idea to add a Foxconn PV902512PSPF 4-Pin 92MM Fan as a intake I did this myself to keep things cool.

Hello, yeah I have the 400W PSU hence why I was going with the older 1060 to avoid changing this aswell!, the i5 CPU is easy to change to the i7-6700 (not 6700K!!), remove the fan, heatsink and lift the old chip and install the new new, it was literally plug and plug in my 710-25ish and bouight me a few more DPS for FSX which is CPU heavy!
