Re: 510s: upgrading graphics

I already have a GT 730 installed, and it is running fine.

I heard that the power consumption of GT 730 and GT 1030 is very similar, so... will it run or not?

The GT 1030 DDR5 is a few watts more than a 730.  Running the power supply calculation a 2nd time with a 1030, it still comes out at 186w.  Lenovo may be is more aggressive when it comes to power rating their systems, and will allow for the installation of a 30w card.

Re: 510s: upgrading graphics

My apologies.  Looking through the specifications for all the i7 models of 510S-08IKL, I found several with the 180w supply and GT 730 2 GB DDR5, which is just a couple of watts more than GT 1030 with GB DDR5.   Therefore, per Lenovo's power calculations, you should be able to run the GT 1030.  I will remove or modify my posts above.

Re: Lenovo 310S 08ASR, 150 Watt Power Supply

2020-02-12, 16:28 PM

@BiggAl: Thank you.

I have an IdeaCentre 510s (i5-9400). It typically uses 20 to 30 Watts according to an energy logger, which is before the PSU on the power plug.

I have seen it using 59 Watts for some seconds, but that's it.

I have a 180W PSU, so installing a GT 1030 should be no problem, as there seem to be at least 100 Watts left?

Is this right?

Thanks.

Did you run your system through the MSi power calculator as I suggested?   If you don't have an optical (DVD) drive, or can you can live without it (disconnect both cables to it), then you you have have power to spare for the GT 1030.   Per Lenovo PSREF:
