Disable Always on USB for Lenovo Legion T5

2020-12-29, 20:45 PM

I recently purchased a Lenovo Legion T5 "Gaming" mid tier desktop computer.

I also recently received an RGB keyboard as a holiday gift.

Because this RGB keyboard is lacking in fancy software, it doesn't have an option to disable RGB, if it receives power, the RGB is on.

If I power off the computer (either sleep or shut down, according to windows), the keyboard stays fully lit.  It is quite annoying as the computer is in the room I sleep in.

I have done all manner of searching through the Bios, the Lenovo App that came pre-installed on the desktop, and with google attempting to discover a way to turn off "Always on USB" power so that the keyboard does not remain lit while the computer is off or sleeping.

In fact, the BIOS options are so limited on this machine I wonder if it's even the "real" BIOS or just some UEFI-related Lenovo branded menu that displays before windows loads.  How and where can I find the option to disable always on USB power?

Hello @Technomancerer,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Usually the option to turn off Always on USB is located in the BIOS.

I've checked out the BIOS of the machine however in order to fully check if I have the right one kindly post your MTM.

I would recommend trying to update the BIOS if you haven't already you can find that here:  https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/

Hope this helps.
