Error 0162 setup data integrity check failure

Out of nowhere, I suddenly ran across this problem, I tried to start my pc as usual but got this error code

"Error 0162: setup data integrity check failure"

I found this website on how to fix this issue link: https://westerntechies.com/lenovo-error-code-0162/

and it work? well sort of. Yes, the pc loaded and I can use it again
but after shutting it down and start it once again the error came back and it always pops up in start up

also my system unit is beeping twice whenever this happens.

How can I fix this? and what is the problem?

Re:Error 0162 setup data integrity check failure

Hello @HizonPastorpili ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Kindly try loading the default BIOS settings to see if that fixes the issues.

BIOS reset

- Press the power button to completely shut down the unit.

- Press the F1 repeatedly on startup to enter BIOS.

- Navigate to the "Restart" tab

- Press "Load Default Settings"

- Save & Exit changes or F10.

Some instructions on how to open the BIOS: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht500216-recommended-way-to-enter-bios-ideapad

Please provide more information about your device. The machine type-model number (MTM) from the underside or under the battery is best, but please do not post your serial number which is normally in the same location. We will also be able to confirm that your post is in the proper forum.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Jack_Lenovo1

Re:Error 0162 setup data integrity check failure

Good day I have a generic ThinkCentre Lenovo PC -- M92p SFF i5-3470

Machine Type: 3209

Model Number: E8J

As I've said, I've already tried loading the default BIOS settings, I learn this from the link I've provided

but when I start up my pc once again the same error occurs

the steps that you provided just lead me to windows booting safely

after shutting down or restarting, the error always occurs at the start up

Any fix for this?

Re:Error 0162 setup data integrity check failure

Hi

I have been haveing similar issues on my desktop pc for the last 12 months. Lenovo all ways say the same line and wait till your warranty runs out.

All ways reset bios.........   Funny thing was after ignoring my isssues they sent out a polite emailing if i want to extend my warranty. Go figure (What Warranty)

I too am having this exact issue. I have reset the bios several times and also changed out the cmos battery but every time you shut down, the bios loses all of of its settings.

Re:Error 0162 setup data integrity check failure

This is annoying error, at least works after pressing F2. I've been waiting some correction for M3209 but nothing since 4 years ago. Here, we have 4 units with this error and the numbers is increasing - started with one, months later another....I presume that this error will affect all of this model in the near future. Perhaps it is an issue that appears when the mother board get old.

Dear Jack_Lenovo1,

I just wanted to say in 2024 your solution worked perfectly for me saving a dozen 'broken' systems from landfill.

Thank you :)

- A Very Happy Tech.

Just in case the original response gets deleted I'll leave the fix here for you future problem solver.
