H430 graphic card upgrade

2016-05-13, 15:37 PM

Hello, I am sorry to come up again with the same topic, but the last is more than one year old. I have a H430 desktop 10091 model and I decided to upgrade the graphic card.

I bought a Gigabyte GTX 750 Ti card, however, after installation, I see only the Lenovo screen and then a beep. I already upgraded the PSU to 500W one, so the juice is not the problem.

Could you, please, recommend me, on how to upgrade the BIOS (ECKT25A) or what could I do?

Or, is the H430 original motherboard, actually, compatible with such new graphic card, or should I consider upgrading the mobo as well? (Last option)

Thank you in advance for the answer.

Hi zajko

Greetings.

As above: Among System Platform: Intel H61 : (known to work )

ATI Radeon HD 6570 (Turks pro) 1G DDR3(DX11)
ATI Radeon HD 6450 (Caicos) 512MB or 1GB DDR3(DX11, VGA+HDMI)
ATI Radeon HD 6350 512MB or 1GB DDR3(DX11, VGA+HDMI)

NVIDIA GT510(D13M1-35) DX11 LP 512MB or 1GB,VGA+HDMI
NVIDIA GT 545 1.5G DDR3 (D13P1-25, VGA+HDMI+DVI)

If the goal is to make Gigabyte GTX 750 Ti card work and you are willing to get a motherboard for your graphics card , Check on recommended systemboard for Gigabyte GTX 750 Ti and OS compatibility , Match if your processor is also compatible with the systemboard .

Since OEM product key is tied with the motherboard then most likely you need to have a retail key purchase for windows 10 to activate too.

Regards

Hi zajko ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

WIth the BIOS installation , recommended would be the same version currently now with the support site H430 BIOS for ECJY24AUS  as to avoid danger of bricking the board.

Product specifications sheet only have declared built in Intel HD Graphics or Intel HD Graphics 2000, integrated graphics in processor  as no discrete provided in particular .

Among System Platform: Intel H61 : (known to work )

ATI Radeon HD 6570 (Turks pro) 1G DDR3(DX11)
ATI Radeon HD 6450 (Caicos) 512MB or 1GB DDR3(DX11, VGA+HDMI)
ATI Radeon HD 6350 512MB or 1GB DDR3(DX11, VGA+HDMI)

NVIDIA GT510(D13M1-35) DX11 LP 512MB or 1GB,VGA+HDMI
NVIDIA GT 545 1.5G DDR3 (D13P1-25, VGA+HDMI+DVI)

Similar post regarding your question may be best answered on this related discussion on different discrete card tried and common issues encountered that some have tried changing the BIOS setting to a non uefi /EFI / legacy , CSM enabled , disabled optimized defaults that may be preventing detection for some cards that are not UEFI compatible.

It's a lengthy thread but do take time to review such as it may help.

Regards

Re: H430 graphic card upgrade

Hello spidey101,

thank you for the quick reply. I would like to try the BIOS update, but I have additional questions:

- My current BIOS version is ECKT25A. Is the proposed version, ECJY24AUS more recent?

- I am using Windows 10, 64 bit, so I would preferrably use the bootable ISO update, however, I could not find the bootable ISO among the other updates for my desktop. Could you, please, provide me with a link?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi zajko ,

Greetings.

BIOS available from the support site  was 18/12/2012  ver. ECJY24AUS .

I believe that yours is an updated version .

Re: H430 graphic card upgrade

Hi spidey101,

thank you for the info. I have read through the other topics for the H430 graphic card upgrade and my BIOS does not have the uEFI option disable, or to disable the Optimized defaults option.
Also, this means, that my BIOS is the most recent one?
Does this mean, that there nothing else to do for me, only to replace my motherboard?

If so, may I ask you, please, to help me on what should I pay attention, except for the processor socket (which is 1155 LGA)?

Thank you very much for your help.

I bought PSU 650 watts and a GeForce GTX 1050 SC and I want to install them to my Lenovo H430. Will it work?

Very sorry to tell that, but I really doubt it will work. The motherboard is very very picky when it comes to gfx. It could not recognize my gfx. It ended up in returning both gfx and the PSU.

Re: H430 graphic card upgrade

2019-03-19, 19:23 PM

I can confirm that the Nvidia GT 610 works with the H61 H430. However, I have tried everything to see if a GTX 1050 would work.  Based on the fact that these cards should be backward compatible to PCIe 2.0 (they are pcie 3.0) they should still work however, they may not function with such a useless Bios that cannot be updated.  The chipset is intel and while I thought a chipset update might work I di not try it since I do not bleieve it would as they are intended for Intel boards.  I tried changing the boot sector on my drive to GPT from MBR...then realized  that the bios does not have that option; in fact it has pretty much no options.  At least it allows to boot from usb so reinstalled windows.  I have my pc back but in order to get 4k HDR support for my tv at 60 fps it appears I will have to upgrade the board to support a GPU that supports HDMI 2.0b.  So the case and CD and hard drive will be all that's left.  At least the case will take an ATX.

I am not surprized that the MB is not very use firendly. I think manufacturers would rather pc owners who have little knowledge simply upgrade the entire pc rather than make them upgradeable.  I know, I am in the manufacturing industry as well and ideally we want consumers to purchase or lease every 3 to 4 years.  Looke like I will need to look another board.

If I had to do it again I would never buy an oem.  you can put together an AMD ryzen 5 system with vega graphis with a compatible board so no expensive GPU required for 4k all for well under $1k.
