H530 - wifi upgrade to ac

2016-01-20, 4:34 AM

Because of the "whitelist" I don't know where to get a dual band (ac) mini card that will replace my Atheros AR9485. I know some Thinkpad laptops use a Lenovo version of the Intel 7260. I wonder if it would also work in my H530. Question is, where do I find it?

Hi MrFrost  ,

Greetings.

With the supported Minicard as shown on the listing (item 10 page 50) do not have an AC compatible card recommended for the model.  It usually would say  " unable to detect device , or unrecognizable device by the BIOS if you try an incompatible one .

Checking further on the sytem board specs , you do have PCI express X 1 adapter slots (3) (item 14 page 24 ) as an optional that youcan use instead similar to this  or just a USB wifi adapter as alternate .

Hope this helps.

Regards

Hi MrFrost ,

Greetings.

On basic premise on WLAN upgrades, you can still try a spare WLAN card if available.

Nonetheless , PCI express X 1 adapter WLAN would offer a good advantage in terms of connectiondue to the antennae at the rear . Downside would be cosmetic since the same antennae protrudes at the back.

Cheers

hey! i think that from the back of my lenovo H530s my antenna is broken. my wifi is also not working. i have not tried to install a different wifi card yet I think I accidentally had taken off the wire connecting to the motherboard from the back (the antenna). is there any way to fix this?
