Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

Okay, I'm thinking from research now that I either messed up the wiring somehow, or the motherboard is rejecting my 960 GPU.  I scrambled my computer back together, and now I'm going to wait to purchase a new ASUS motherboard.  This is becoming more trouble than it's worth.  ;_;

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

A 600W PSU is definitely enough. I have a 500W running my 970. Try putting your old hardware in it and see if it will start up. You could've gotten a defective PSU. Also make sure that the paper clip is in the pins correctly.

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

I too have an ideacentre 700 and found out about the 10 pin connecter a bit too late whne trying to upgrade, I was advised not to try the paper clip method due to the rewiring and the risk involved so i ordered a 10 pin adapter that did not work, after that failure I realized something, why not try to use dual power supplies.  What you do is leave the original power supply in the case and run only the graphics card with the new one, to power the graphics card you must connect the green wire to a ground black wire with a paper clip to trick the power supply into running.  It is a non-elegant solution and most may want to avoid it but you may find ways to make it better.  I have ordered a 625w power supply off ebay for a Lenovo that has a 10 pin connecter, if i have success with that I will send a link.

Hi D4emios, did you ever make the video you mention? I would love to get to see it. I'm in this situation as well.

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

Hi Could you possibly use a combination of the Orbit 20-pin to 10-pin adapter (http://www.orbitmicro.com/global/59402010000e-p-12556.html) along with a 24-pin to 20-pin adapter to use a 24-pin psu?

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

I bought the following

1x lenovo thinkcentre m800 tower = Motherboard 10 Pin connector

1x GIGABYTE NVIDIA GTX 1070 G1 GAMING 8192MB GRAPHICS card

1x Corsair VS Series VS550 550W Power Supply = 24 Pin connector

So this is what I did to make it work

1. Cut 24Pin connector off from Corsair PSU

2. Cut 10Pin connector off from Lenovo 250W PSU

3. Connect cables, same colours together

4. Use paperclip and connect green and black

5. Working 100%

Thanks for all the comments and video.....

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

I got the 24-port to 10-port adapter today from MODDIY (http://www.moddiy.com/products/IBM-Lenovo-PSU-Main-Power-24%252dPin-to-10%252dPin-Adapter-Cable-%283...), and it works the same as the modified 14-port adapter.  It's a good option if you aren't comfortable with doing the mod yourself.

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

I installed the same 24 to 10 ATX power adapter and can confirm as well that it does work. Very easy to install, too. Got a Nvidia GTX 1060 on order that ought to turn the machine into a decent gaming rig.

Re: IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

Hey man, did you connect 2 yellow from 24-pin to 3 yellow on 10-pin? Because 24-pin only have two 12V. How big is your PSU?
