IdeaCentre: Monitor stuck in power saving mode - CMOS reset to correct boot failure

I have a Lenovo, machine type 7747, IdeaCentre K330B. When I turn on the PC, the monitor displays Lenovo then displays power save mode. I took the Lenovo monitor to another PC and it works just fine. I tried a different monitor on the Lenovo PC and still get the power save mode. Even tried a different cable and still got the same results. Any idea as to what would cause this?

Re: Monitors suck in power saving mode

hi copiman,

Sorry to hear what happened,

This is not an issue with the monitor,

The computer is not able to boot fully.

The power saving mode is when a Monitor is not recieving any signal from the PC,

I believe that the computer stops working after the Lenovo Screen. REason why the Monitor goes into a power Saving mode.

Is this K330B Brand New?

If yes are you plugging it to the right Graphics port.

Are you using VGA or HDMI?

Regards

Solid Cruver

Re: Monitors suck in power saving mode

Yea, I figured it was in the PC. What I did to resolve it was I reset the CMOS. All is well now.

Re: Monitors suck in power saving mode

Just FYI. When you do this you will need to set the date and time. If not you will get certificate errors when you go on the Internet. Ooops.

Re: Monitors suck in power saving mode

Welcome to the Lenovo Community mspitz !

To reset the CMOS just unplug your system from the wall and then remove the round coin cell battery from the motherboard.  The battery's socket should have a little tab that when pressed will eject the battery from the socket.  Once the battery is removed then press and hold the power button for 15 - 20 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the motherboard and clear the CMOS.  Once done, put the CMOS battery back in its socket. plug the system into the wall socket and power up.

Re: Monitors suck in power saving mode

Resetting the cmos did not help, trying different hdmi cables or changing the 3v internal battery and wiping down the gig cards on my motherboard also did not solve my problem.
