Lenovo H50-50 Upgrade GPU Type 90B6

2018-11-26, 22:04 PM

Hello

I have a Lenovo H50-50 Type 90B6 desktop and would like to know what solution works best to get a better gaming experience.

The Special numbers are:

Serialnumber: xxxxxxxx
Model no: 90B600A2MZ

I usually play CS:GO with my friends and have around 18 to 30 FPS, which isnt that great.

Im very happy with my PC in terms of starting programs quick though.

As far as I can tell i have an Intel I3 CPU.

I dont know much about Computers and I also dont think that I can get much out of that PC but a Answer would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance

Giraffe

Mod:  edited text to obscure the serial number to prevent it's unauthorized use.

You can determine the Intel processor model by running 'sys info', and this thread is the best place to start for a gaming GPU:

Update:  a less expensive, but still worth-while upgrade would be a short length GT 1030 DDR5 (not the DDR4 version, which has 1/2 the performance), with 330% better peformance than your Intel graphics.

Based upon your model number, you have the Intel Core i3-4160 processor, onboard Intel 4400 graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 280 watt power supply

Because you have the 280 watt power supply, you could upgrade to a Nvidia 1050 GT or GTX graphics card without upgrading the power supply, but you will have to get one with a single fan such as this 2gb version to fit in your case.     The Nvidia 1050 comes in 2GB, 3GB and  4GB models.

What ever card you choose, be sure to check the recommended power supply requirements, but note that the manufacturers suggest the optimal size, and sometimes you can get by with less power, as is the case with the Nvidia 1050 series, which recommends 300 watt power supply, but will work fine with your 280 watt.

This kid in England put out a good video on upgrading an Lenovo H50   He went with an older 750 Ti video card (also requires only a 300 watt power supply), but decided to upgrade his PSU as well.

UPGRADING MY LENOVO H50 (GTX750TI+ 500W PSU)  (part 2)

Upgrading your graphics card with a Nvidia GTX 1050 (2GB) will increase your graphics by roughly 700% -1000% and breath some new life into your H50

Cheers,
