Lenovo H520s NVIDIA GT 1030

2018-11-03, 15:56 PM

Hello, so this is the first time I ever post here onto the forums. Thank you if you want to say hi to me. I just got a Lenovo H520s after my Xeon gaming rig broke down. I try to install the GT 1030 onto the Lenovo machine, and it shows up that it takes really long to boot. When I reach to Windows logo to turn on the machine, it stays there for a long while. When the machine does manage to boot, it zooms in to the top left corner of my screen. And when I install my drivers, it says error 43. I never had this issue when I tested the motherboard with my Radeon HD 4850. But I had the issue with my GT 1030. Keep in mind, its the MSi model, so I can't get an RMA. Ordered it in December of last year, got it since January 31st. I need help with this, please. I don't wanna stick to my Radeon GPU for a long while.

Hi MSW09,

Welcome to the community forums.

We searched further and can see that the GTX 1030 is not tested on the Lenovo H520s and we cannot guarantee that all features will work properly. You may check the Hardware Maintenance Manula page 48 to see the graphic cards tested for this device. https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/ideacentre_h520s_hmm_20120627.pdf Let us know if you need anything else.

Regards!

Usually when a graphics card is not supported, it will fail to POST.  That you are getting past that point, suggests that it's an OS issue or BIOS setting.  Starting by loading and saving the BIOS default settings.  It could also be related to the fact you had an AMD card in before the 1030.  I suggest you uninstall all the AMD and Nvidia software and drivers, reboot onto the Intel graphics, then install the 1030 and software.

I have not used this tool myself, so use it as a last resort and with care:  Display Driver Uninstaller

Critically, it is known that GT 730 will work in this system.  I have yet to see a situation where a 730 will work, and a 1030 will not.

I managed to somehow boot with the GT 1030, it requires tricky stuff in order to make it work. It works now, but boot times with it are super slow. And yes, I use Windows 10 on this machine.

Well, uh, it did the same thing again. I never expected this to happen again. And the trick doesn't work anymore. Dangit!
