Re: Lenovo H520s Video Card

2013-02-04, 18:40 PM

hi strike0fluck,

I recommend you use good quality 350W or 400W TFX PSU if you're gonna play games that requires full utilization of the GPU)/

I used this website to calculate the PSU usage of the Lenovo H520s running with an i5-2320, and 5400 RPM HDD. Regular 2 sticks of desktop RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GT 620 1GB.

Here's the reuslt:

Hope this helps.

hi astra610s,

The Zotac GT520's minimum PSU Wattage is 300-Watt (I recommend you get a quality 350W or 400W TFX PSU).

Did you replace your PSU to this specification?

Cheers

Re: Lenovo H520s Video Card

I have the H520s and went through some of this. Hopefully I can provide some useful insight.

Graphics card has to be a low profile model. The longest the graphics card can be is 7" in length.

Some good Graphics cards from best to worst:

AFOX AMD 7850 Low Profile

AFOX HD 6850 Low Profile Japanese Version

Sapphire HD 7750 Low Profile.

For any of those listed I would go with the 400 watt PSU. TFX form factor.

I'm currently running a saphire hd 7750 Low Profile and a 400 watt psu. No issues. Hooked up to a tv, looks great.

Sapphire doesnt need a separate psu connection so probably could go a little lower wattage on the psu.

Hi I have the same problem, just tried to install a EVGA Nvidia GT610 and nothing just a blank screen. I upgraded the power supply to a Be Quiet 300watt PSU. And nothing. I was wondering if you'd found a solution.

hi TheNovicePcDude,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

H520s model has diff Graphics Configuration such as

Some:

Intel HD Graphics 2000 or 4000, integrated in processor,

uses main memory, one analog VGA DB-15 connector,

one HDMI connector, HDCP

Some:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 620, PCI Express® x16, 1GB DDR3,

DirectX 11, one analog VGA DB-15 connector, one HDMI connector, HDCP

Some:

AMD RadeonHD 7570, PCI Express x16, 2GB DDR3,

DirectX 11, one analog VGA DB-15 connector, one HDMI connector, HDCP

for systems Running only with the On-Board Graphics (Intel HD Graphics 2000 or 4000)

the lowest you can run is 180 watts.

But for System Running with NVIDIA or AMD Graphics Lowest you can run is with 240 watts.

see these on you systems Reference Manual.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!
