Hi, I wanted to install a HDD on my PC but when I tried, I couldnt find any Sata power connection except 2 ports on the motherboard, under that it says SATA_pwr1 and SATA_pwr2. I guess thats how you connect them (see the picture). They look like 4p ATX power connector but they are smaller, so what are they? how do I get them? I need that connection adapted to SATA Power Connector
BTW, In the manual it says that there is allready a cable for installing a HHD, but not in my PC.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Later ThinkCentres do the same thing (see this thread.) Since this is non-standard, these power cables are Lenovo specific and should be available as a replacement part, but perhaps a company like ModDIY (which makes the 24-pin to 14 and 10-pin adapters to enable the installation of after-market power supplies) may make replacements also.

The HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for your system, in the Documents section of the Lenovo support page, has a parts list.

I can´t see how this is solved.
The FRU for the 510/15IKL specific is not to be found in the HMM. There are only FRU for 310-15ASR, 310-15IAP and 510-15IABR. The FRU 00XL188 mentioned above is not listed in the documentation.
is 00XL188 the correct cable?
A 4-pin "micro ATX" to SATA power?

It's Fru 400mm SATA power cable 00XL217, or atleast what the lenovo supporters told me. But sadly they didnt confirm and all of them recomended to ask for support from Lenovo Flex Commercial Shop. And they didnt answere and refused to answere my question due to I ask them support as a private customer. To get help from them I needed to be registered as a company with a VAT number.
After all research; I found out that 510-15ABR has the same port as 510-15IKL except IKL has 2 and ABR has 1.
To make sure, I let an IT- guy, an electrician, hardware tech guy and hardware engineer to check it out, all of them was suprised due to the motherboard didn't followed the standard and unsurely confirmed that it was the correct cable.
But there is one issue left. They dont have it and it would require Lenovo 8 weeks to produce it.
So I gave up and bought an external HDD. With USB 3.0 it should work fine.

The Problem is not solved. I looking for such a power cable too for the Lenovo ideacentre 510S-08IKL.
No Chance to get one. It's really ridiculous. If somebody knows where to get the cable, please tell me. BTW. I'll not pay 50$ for that.

The problem is kinda solved. I found out what cable to ordered. The problem is, at least for me who lives in Sweden, is that I have to order it with a VAT number, in other words, via a company. Which I can’t. Then the price is an issue. I bought the computer because it was cheap and had the best performance/price at that price range at that time. Paying for that cable would go over my budget.
As an alternative; you could buy an external hard drive bay for HDD (with usb 3.0 so it won’t be bottleneck). Or buy an external hard drive. That’s those 2 options for a cheap solution.
