How to use the integrated graphics card in the cpu? My motherboard has two HDMI and DVI inputs but it doesn't work, how can I use the ATI Radeon R5 integrated in the AMD A9 processor? At the moment I can use the personal computer only with the Nvidia GT730 GPU.

Hi 

You have a switchable graphics on your computer and that there is no way for them to work at the same time. What you can do to activate the  ATI Radeon R5 integrated in the AMD A9 processor is to set the Integrated graphics as the primary video controller through BIOS or you can disable the Nvidia GT730 GPU from the device manager for the integrated graphics card to activate.

Option 1. Setting  Primary Video Controller to IGD ( Integrated Graphics Device ).

 To Access BIOS, repeatedly tap  F2 key  from the top most part of the keyboard right after hitting the power button to turn it on (from shutdown) until it gets to the BIOS page.

• BIOS page 
• select Device Tab
• and set the Primary Video Controller to IGD.

Option 2. Disabling the Nvidia GT730 GPU in Device Manager.

• right click on the windows icon from the bottom left and select Device Manager.
• Click Display Adapters.
• right click on Nvidia GT730 GPU and hit disable

Option 3. Configuring Intel and Nvidia dual graphics 

• Right-click the blank space on the desktop.
• Select NVIDIA Control Panel  
• Switch between two graphics manually under Manage 3D Settings 
• Click on Preferred Graphics Processor.

Note: 

Programs supporting 3D can run on switchable graphics (or high-performance NVIDIA processor). Programs supporting 2D can only run on integrated graphics.

Hi Jhay02_Lenovo, the Nvidia GT730 GPU is broken. Is there a way to activate the ATI Radeon R5 with the hardware? I can't access the BIOS because the display didn't receive the video signal.

Hi 

Disconnect/Remove the Nvidia GT730. The Integrated GPU should automatically kicks in when that is unplugged from the computer. After removing and still having No display try reseating the RAM and the HDD. Try checking/ reseat the cable that connects the Tower and Monitor to make sure that it is seated properly.

What are the lights that comes on from the computer when you turn it on?

Is the caps lock or the numlock led indicator comes on and off when you hit those keys?

Please do try another VGA/HDMI cable or try connecting another monitor to isolate the problem further?

Only the LEDs of the power and DVD player are on, both the CPU and GPU fans work, but the GPU's fan is very noisy.

If the caps lock and or the num lock led indicator is not responding the you are encountering a NO POST problem on the computer. 

Is there NO Activity on the display at all? 

Are you hearing any Beeps when you turn on your computer?

Are there any flashing light?

Is the power light on the computer staying on after turning it ON?

Method 1: Unplug any third party device connected to your computer.

• Turn Off computer and unplug the power cable from it.
• Press an and hold the power button for atleast 15 seconds.
• Plug back the power cable and check if you will see any display on your computer.

Method 2: Repeatedly tapping the F2 key  from the top most part of the keyboard right after hitting the power button to turn it on (from shutdown) and check is you can see the BIOS page.

• If you are able to boot to BIOS, hit F9 of FN+9 then select YES to restore BIOS to defaults then F9 of FN+9 to save changes.

Method 3: Reseat( process of removing and correctly placing them back into place)the the following:

•  Unplug any third party device connected to your computer.
• Turn Off computer and unplug the power cable from it.
• Press an and hold the power button for  atlease 15 seconds.
• reseat RAM
• reseat HDD
• reseat DVD ROM
• reseat Wireless Card
• reseat totally remove NVIDIA 
• Plug back the power cable and test your computer

Method 4:If the problem still persists and if your computer is still in warranty, Please contact Lenovo technical support through this link because your computer needs repair/ parts replacement.

I'm assuming that I need to add a video card; and Jhay02 is providing the exact type of answers I need....

What video card can I add to this registered-with-Lenovo device?

I have read your earlier response regarding the GT1030 2Gb card; but it may not be applicable to my machine.
I have further found notes regarding DDR5 is better; machine memory speed 2400 (platform profile); and a bunch of stuff that is admittedly a bit over my head.  I just need an authoritative answer - hopefully from Jhay02_Lenovo.

(FYI:  I actually bought two of these machines in the last two months... they seem to work not jsut good, but great.  very pleased so far)
