H330 - Type 7780 won't boot up after GPU change

2021-01-17, 11:43 AM

I had a Windows 7 Lenovo H330 which I bought from Singapore. It has worked without fail for many years and I even upgraded it to Windows 10. I decided to install an old Samsung Nvidia GT 210 which an old computer of mine had. After installing it, my computer did not boot up. I called an IT technician to come and fix it. He removed the GPU and it switched on but did not go into windows. The light remained on but my monitor said no signal. I removed the ram and the GPU to another pc to test them which worked just fine. I even installed drivers before installing the GPU and it still wouldn't boot. The technician attempted to go into the BIOS but nothing happened. The technician cleared the CMOS by removing the motherboard's battery but nothing happened. It still wouldn't boot. The technician couldn't do anything to make it boot again. I have checked all my parts and I am still unsure on what is wrong.

My specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium G620 @ 2.6 GHZ

Integrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics for Intel Pentium G600

Newly Installed GPU: GeForce GT 210
RAM: 4GB @ 1333MHZ

OS: Windows 10

PSU: 180w

Hello @Khathi,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It is possible that the gpu caused an electrical shortage on the machine.

I would recommend checking if there are any burn marks on the systemboard and also trying one ram in each slot to isolate the issue.

Hope this helps.
Regards,

Hi! Thanks for the Advice however I did not find any burn marks inside the case.

I was told that the motherboard was burnt when the Technician finished his work that day, but I found nothing inside the case. I am currently attempting to move my disk into another PC with slightly better specs

that is working.

Other PC specs (Don't know full specs yet):

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHZ

4GB ram 2 x 2GB

Nvidia GeForce GT 410

Hooray! I managed to install my old drive into the other PC but the Issue is I need to uninstall the previous drivers before booting from the other disk Drive. Does anyone know how? I am unaware of how to do so

Sadly I am unable to boot from my old Drive. I am unable to fix the shortage but eventually managed to transfer my Data safely to another computer which I am now using. Thank you to all that helped me! I learnt a lot and am now able to continue to do my work and other tasks

Good day,
