One-Key Recovery - Recover Base Backup question

2009-06-15, 13:21 PM

I just received a nasty windows registry blue screen when a vista update didn't go properly.  I can't log on to windows vista.  I have been able to access the One Key Recovery by pressing the LVT key on boot-up.  However I don't see a "Recover Base Backup" option.  The only two options are "Recover Factory Backup" and "Instant Recovery"

MY Question:  Is "Recover Factory Backup" the same as "Recover Base Backup"?

My general procedure with One-Key Recovery is to periodically update the Base Backup.  When I have had problems before, I was able to log on to windows then run the one-key recovery from windows.  When launched from windows, the recovery software has a "Restore Base Backup" option.

Lenovo support advised me to use the Base Backup option, since my 30GB partition was in danger of running out of space.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: One-Key Recovery - Recover Base Backup question

Thank you for your response.

My basic question is this:   In One-Key Recovery, is the Update Base Backup option an update of the system state for the Factory Restore option?  If not, then why is there no Restore Base Backup option when I access One-Key Recovery through the keyboard button on bootup?

Currently, I can't access windows Vista due to a registry error that occurred during a Vista update process.

My system is:

Desktop:  Lenovo 3000 K100   57061308

Intel Core Duo E6550

4GB RAM  (I upgraded from 2GB)

500 GB SATA HD

Geforce 9500 Graphics card (upgraded from onboard graphics)

My system has a 30GB C: partition for the operating system and a large D: partition for programs and files.

I didn't find much info on One Key Recovery in the User Guide.  I will look in the other guides

Maybe I just need to try Restore Instant Backup first.

Thanks again for any guidance.

Redneck,

You have to use the "recovery" key on the keyboard to enter one key recovery
