OneKey Recovery Feature update - FYI

2008-07-31, 19:15 PM

It was announce in the IdeaPad board that an update is in the works for the OneKey application to deal with the partitioning scheme troubles.  With any luck, it'll work on the Idea Centre also!

I have been informed by the engineering team that there will be an update to the OneKey application to address the partitioning issues that customers are having.  They are busy working out the details now.  As soon as I get a release date from the team I will post it here and will include a download link once it is released.

Sid,

My prior write up was mis-leading and I've fixed it.  The VRU tells customers 3 things, but there are only two button choices - (1) for IdeaPads and (2) for IdeaCentres.  The third condition is for 'Think' branded systems and customers are advised to hang up and dial a different support number.

I've edited my prior post, hopefully to make this more clear.  Apologies to you and Gervaise for the confusion I caused.

I've called support and referencing your prior case above, requested the media to be sent.

The part number for K210 single partition OKR media is 69-028382

The part number for K100 single partition OKR media is 69-028380

There may be a bit of confusion about the availability of this media and we are working through this to ensure consistency of process and communication.

Apologies again for the confusion.

Mark

I see there is an update from ver. 5.0 to ver 5.2 posted at

http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/hints/2414/2978.html

What does this update do and is it relevant to the issue in this thread.

Well, I did the update and all went well... and there was a wonderful surprise at the end.

A window opened giving me the opportuntity to move three folders from appdata to D:  Unfortunately, it would only let me choose one. I thought it might go back and let me move other files, so I took them in order. The first was temporary internet files, which frees up a little space on C: but I can empty that directory any way.  I would much rather have moved the other options or all three.

Any suggestions how I can get back there without uninstalling the update and reinstalling it?

Could someone from Lenovo please respond to this thread with any additional information about this update as well as the promised update to correct the small c-drive problem?     Mark?  Shumpert?  Anyone?   Lenovo, are you listening?

Sharkey,

Listening....

Was out this week.   While conceptually related, the updates for desktop and notebook products are on different schedules.

I'll try to update here tomorrow.

Thanks

Mark

Judging by all the responses from the Lenovo staff, (or rather lack there of) Lenovo seems to have abandoned all the IdeaCentre suckers owners out there.
