I have recently aquired a ideacentre k330B 7747 tower and i want to upgrade it. so far I have replaced the one 2gb ram stick for another 4gb one and added a gigabyte geforce gt 420. Did I get the most compatible hardware? Im also wondering if i can upgrade the cpu on it, the current one is a dual core 2.7 and it sucks.

I believe your system has the Pentium G630 2.7Mhz processor, which is a second generation Sandy Bridge socket 1155 CPU, so there ia a chance you could upgrade it to another Sandy Bridge CPU per Intel (see below). There are several other K330B 7747 models (77472cu, 77472du etc.) which did ship with Core i5 2320 quad core socket 1155 CPU, so there is a chance your system could be upgraded, but it really comes down to what exact motherboard/BIOS you have in your system as to whether it will accept the faster CPU, so I would recommend locating the MB Model and doing some research before laying out money for a CPU.

Im sorry, i meant to include that information... that is my cpu, my motherboard is "CIH61M V1.0", and my "bios revision level" is "DPKT23A". how do i go about obtaining my specific model?

I know how frustrating it is trying to get any information with this board and bios (no thanks to lenovo and its tech support) to see if anything is upgradeable since this is very old chipset but still a usable in 2018 to some degree. Hope this gives you some info. on what I was able to get it done, as for ram being only 6 gigs I have no concearn on adding few more DDR3 1333 memory but my final issue would be to see if it is able upgrade the cpu with either i5-2500 or even 17-2600 (might not be cost effective since this cpu still cost alot) and with same bios "DPKT23A" i would be comfortable enough to say it is able to add atleast i5-2500. (like i said before i7 , which is 2nd gen (sandy bridge) is just too expansive to justify the upgrade.)
1st is mine with still old cpu but with 1050 ti and 1tb samsung ssd and 2nd is one with i7-2600 but is unchecked

So... i was able to get the i7-2600 in there for only 87 dollars off of ebay wich was nice. the psu has been upgraded from stock to a cheap 450 watt and then to an evga 500 watt. added an ssd. tossed out that garbage gpu for a wallet killing 530 dollar gtx 1080 zotac amp edition, which was very close to the ram slots and the sata connectors, had to put two 90 degree cords there to get it to work. overall i think it cant be upgraded much anymore and thank you very much for the help. if i knew how to give kudos, you would have it.

WOW Indeed you really upgraded the heck of that board and I agree i don't think it could get any better or needs to be beyond what you got it. excellent work. Hope that someone who still have the boards will see the post and get an idea how far you could take it. Thank you for the share.
