Second SATA Burner

2008-03-29, 4:56 AM
Hello All,

Fry's Pioneer DL DVD Burner (silver) $20 after rebate. Installed in 3 minutes.  1 minute for the DVD and then 2 minutes for all the wiring mess. Works great, had to reasign Drive letters but that was it.  Smooth !   BTW I will wait for the BlueRay /DVD Burners because of the price ($150) but for $20 I can't argue.

SATA cable I followed the first DVD to the mother board and connected the second DVD to the SATA connection next to it. Simple. enjoy !

Im a moron. I saw there were standard power plugs and an IDE cable input on the motherboard inside the j200.

So I could have gotten one of those.

But do they have motherboards where they have omitted these legacy IDE - EIDE INPUTS?

You can always go to Frys.com or the retail store, this weekend they have a Sony EIDE for $29 also.

Im going there this morning and purchase a drive and a few DVD DL discs to create this restore disc. Im not going to put up with the hoops  I tried to go through to order one from Lenovo over the phone yesterday, it was too intimidating and a hassle.

I wish Lenovos support was easier to deal with.

The DL disk is pretty cheap Just FYI.  The Pioneer sticks out of the back about 1/4 inch more than the factory one. Remember you need the SATA cable also, I think a 8-12 inch is perfect (cable folks !) but be prepared to zip tie the PSU cables around.
