Upgrade for H420 Lenovo?

2017-09-19, 12:32 PM

Hey, i am thinking of switching my graphic card Nvidia GT 520 and some friends suggested me to purchase GTX 750 Ti.

Which one GTX 750 Ti should i purchase?  Windforce one?  With OC?

Can I also buy 1050 Ti  ones etc to this desktop?

Which PSU should i purchase, so it would integrate with others devices?  I have heard it should have 6 pins ?  Etc?

My PC:

Lenovo H420

i3-2100 3.1 Ghz

8 GB Ram DDR3

Nvidia GT 520 - 2 GB

MOBO : H61M-S2-B3
 PSU : 280w

Hello Torivic

Thank you for using the Lenovo forum

Please note that there might be a need to upgrade the PSU of the machine, most graphics cards will mention the minimum requirement and that will indicate if this will be compatible with the new display, you will find online a graphics card PSU calculator, this will help finding the compatible PSU.

You can also check on the lenovo support page for the specs of the mainboard in your unit to help.

Your 280w power supply is sufficient for a GTX 750 Ti, buy one that doesn't need supplemental 6-pin PCIe power.  However, it is several generations newer than your system, and may not work.  I searched, but haven't seen a anyone in this forum use that card in a H420.   You can try searching with Google.

I use 280w HuntKey . Many people suggest me that graphic card because it's compatible with MOBO.
I am not sure which one PSU would work. Would that PSU fit into lenovo PC? Akyga 500 w?

Your 280w is sufficient for a GTX 750 Ti, no need to upgrade it.   Just get one that does not require a 6-pin (PCIe) power cable from the power supply, since this power supply does not have one.  A card similar to this EVGA 750Ti SC.  Or any low-profile 750 Ti.
