Upgrade from HD2500 Graphics for Lenovo H520

2015-01-15, 1:43 AM

I have a new Lenovo H520. My old XP games will no longer play and I am interested in upgrading my intefrated graphics in order to play some newer games, but not cutting edge. My previous games were Starfleet Command III and Age of Empires. I am a casual gamer. I am on a tight budget, so I need to keep the cost of the GPU around $100 or less.

I have just purchased a 500w LEPA power supply and a GPU( MSI Geforce GTX 650 OC 1GB GDDR5 PCI-e 3.0). The price was right, but i'm not sure if this is good enough to play games on my new monitor at 1920x1080. I may take it back.

What would you suggest? I don't want to buy a GPU that is too expensive or too much for my system, but I don't want one that is too wimpy either. Thank you.

Win 8.1

CPU: I3-3240  3.4

Ram: 6GB

PSU: Liteon 250w max

GPU: Intel HD 2500

Monitor: Acer 23"
