Upgrading K450 GPU to GTX1650

2020-06-29, 3:20 AM

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been asked before - I tried looking around but didn't see an answer.

I have a K450 Type 90A0 and was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my GPU to  a GTX 1650?

If not, if you have any suggestions I would appreciate hearing them. I've been trying to find something under $200 which doesn't necessitate upgrading more than the GPU and my PSU since its only 280W.

I'm new to upgrading my PC so if there is anything else you think it might be good for me to know, I am all ears.

Thank you!

Hi,

welcome to the Lenovo forum community!

Yes, you can remove the current graphics card, and install another one, so go for it :)

Re:Upgrading K450 GPU to GTX1650

I searched the 'Passmark' system benchmarks (see the attachment), and see one K450 system with a RTX 2060, which suggests that GTX 1650 would also be possible.  Also, two systems with the older GTX 1050.

If you do go the 1650 route, I recommend that you get a newer card that has GDDR6 memory, such as the ones from Gigabyte, as those cards have ~5% better performance for the same wattage and cost.  Get one that does not require 6-pin supplemental PCIe power, as the factory 280w power supply does not have that cable.
