[ erazer x315] ethernet cable is not being detected

So I just got a new erazer x315 I got it set up but my wifi is really weak in the room that I have the computer in so I decided to keep using the ethernet cable that was there from my previous computer; however, when I plug in the cable I do not get the usual green light there is no light at all turning on.

I have already tried:

restarting my computer

Updating the driver (no updates found)

manually reinstalling the driver off of the lenovo website

A few other suggestions.....

 

If you view the ethernet port on the computer with the aid of a flashlight is there any debris in it ?  Do the metal contacts inside appear straight and shiny?

 

Have you tried plugging in the ethernet cable and then reboot your router?

 

Have you tried a different ethernet cable?
