lenovo 300-20ish 90da won't post after failed bios update

2018-01-21, 0:50 AM

https://support.lenovo.com/downloads/ds105641
Tried to update BIOS with that tool on the link
all the windows stuff worked, but when the machine rebooted, it hanged up on a black screen, left it overnight and still no go

PC powers on but throws no image neither on HDMI no VGA
As for the speakers, not a beep, not a chime, nada, zero

Tried clearing CMOS by unplugging machine, removing CMOS battery, fiddling with the 3-pin CMOS jumper, stripping off RAM, holding power button over 30 seconds, pressing power button over 30 times; nothing seems to wake up this sleeping beauty

For some reason, USB ports now feed enegy even when the machine is shut down

any way to flash BIOS to this seemengly BIOSless machine?

"any way to flash BIOS to this seemengly BIOSless machine?"

You would need to unsolder the BIOS chip from the motherboard after finding a replacement and solder in the placement that has a workable BIOS.

Pretty much what I expected
How does one find a bios chip replacement?, What are the keywords to google?

I have seen USB devices with BIOS chip socket for flashing shenanigans (a much safer alternative to hot swapping), how can I make sure it is compatible with my chip?

Lastly, can I make this board BIOS modular by soldering in a chip socket instead?

Speaking of sockets, I just need to make sure it is the same size and number of pins, right?

I just did a quick look but I couldn't find any for 300-20ish.

I would ask if they could get a hold of one biosdepot and/or bios_store
