Re: question about H520's desktop

hi sunanda,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Your issue might be similar to this thread.

The  Lenovo® H520s (2561) has a VGA and HDMI out according to this pdf data sheet.

If you'll be using a flat panel monitor (that usualy has a VGA connector and a single link DVI D digital interface), you will need to connect 1 monitor to the VGA out and use an HDMI to single link DVI-D converter on the other monitor. You might need to scan for hardware changes under the device manager to identify the monitor that's connected to the HDMI to DVI-D converter.

Hope this helps.

Re: question about H520's desktop

I have a H520 desktop, and would like to connect two vga monitors. I see one vga connection, is there a connector you can get to connect a vga monitor thru the HDMI connector?

Re: question about H520's desktop

hi houndog1,

You can try to use an HDMI to VGA adapter to convert the digital signal to analog.

I haven't tried this yet as there's no H520 unit available here in the lab but check this item as it has good reviews.

Regards

Re: question about H520's desktop

I hooked up The Extra monitor with the HDMI cable. I can see the task bar but the monitors will not work independently of each other

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Naschco 1 !

Have you tried adjusting the display options for Windows ?    The link below is a Microsoft article that will explain the various display options when using multiple displays.

Re: question about H520's desktop

I can move the mouse between the two, and i see the desk top and task bar, but when i click on a file on the new screen (HDMI) it opens only on the old screen.

Re: question about H520's desktop

Nascho 1, sounds like you have the displays set for "extended display."  The reason the clicked file opens on the old screen is the old screen is designated as your first monitor.  Instead try opening a file on the old screen and then use your mouse to drag it over to the new HDMI screen.
