Webex: virtual background not working

I have an older CPU (2016 H50-55 Desktop (Lenovo) - Type 90BF) and I am trying to use a virtual background in Cisco Webex Meeting. When I try to turn the background on, I get a message of "Can't change...because computer's CPU or GPU configuration or performance is too low". Is there any way to find out what the specific problem is? I did a general search and turned the performance power up, but it still won't work. Any fix that doesn't require a new CPU?

Hello @DrKim2003,

 

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

I would recommend checking if the app is updated or trying to reinstall it.

 

I was not able to find recommended system requirements for Virtual backgrounds in Cisco Webex for this I would recommend contacting Cisco for that information.


Also, kindly check your task manager if the CPU and RAM are under heavy load this may be the reason why the app is not allowing you to proceed with that feature.

Thanks. I was able to find on Webex the minimum requirements: 

Webex Version:
  • WBS40.6.6—Blurred background and background replacement

  • WBS40.8 and later—Blurred background, background replacement, and custom backgrounds

Operating System:
  • Windows 8 or Windows 10 64-bit

Processor:
  • Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 4000 series processor or higher

  • Intel Core i9 dual-core processor or higher***

  • Intel Xeon dual-core processor or higher***

  • Other Intel processors: 6 cores or higher***

  • AMD Ryzen 5, 7, 9 processor, or higher

  • Other AMD Ryzen processors: 5 cores or higher***

  • Other AMD processors: 6 cores or higher***

  • Non-Intel and non-AMD processors: 8 cores or higher

  • Apple M1***

Memory:
  • 4GB or more of RAM

I think mine meets all these:

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Webex software but still doesn't work...UGH!! 

 

Oh and I checked the CPU and GPU...it does go up with the use of the Webex but stays below 50%. I do see that Webex is running a 32-bit version and I think this may be the problem but I'm not sure how to get the 64-bit version. I'll work on that but if you could confirm that it should be able to run on my system I would appreciate it.
