Re: H50-50: upgrade graphics GPU with GTX 1050 Ti (4K video, Nvidia)

Hello everyone! I have a Lenovo H50-50 and I would like to ask you a few questions about upgrading my pc. First of all, I would like to know if I can change the RAM, from a DDR3 version to a DDR4. I think the motherboard doesn't support DDR4 ram type. Second, I read here in this forum, that someone wanted to change their GPU to a 1050ti, and i want to know if this gpu can be used in my computer. And, if it is necessary to change de PGU to make it work.

I saw that de EVGA gpu is very small: https://www.pccomponentes.com/evga-geforce-gtx-1050ti-gaming-4gb-gddr5

But this one is the cheapest I have found: https://www.pccomponentes.com/msi-geforce-gtx-1050ti-4g-oc-4gb-gddr5

So i don't know which one to choose. I'm worried if I buy it, and it doesn't fit in my computer...

Thank you.

Re: Upgrading Lenovo H50

DDR4 memory will not work, or even fit, into DDR3 slots.

Gtx 1050 Ti is known to fit and work in H50-50, providing it is short enough (baselines with it are uploaded to PassMark system benchmarks.)  It will work with the original factory power supply (PSU), providing your system has the 280w power supply (and not the 180w that some lower specification system models have), and the card does not require 6-pin PCIe supplimental power.   Open the system, and check the label on the side of the power supply (if not stated, Google the part numbers shown there.)

If you are worried about card length, measure how much length is available inside your case for the long (graphics) slot.   MSI is a good brand, but EVGA is better.  The short, single fan EVGA 1050 Ti is a popular choice.

Re: Upgrading Lenovo H50

Thank you very much! I will go for the EVGA version. Also i will buy a better PSU, I have the 280W one but I want to install a SSD in the future.

Re: Upgrading Lenovo H50

SSD requires very little power.  Not necessary to upgrade power supply for that.

H50-50 Desktop (Lenovo) - Type 90B7 S/N ######

I increased the RAM from 6 to 16GB. Can I replace the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 with Palit GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 1290MHz PCI-E 3.0 4096MB 7000MHz 128 bit DVI HDMI HDCP StormX without changing the power supply?
