Re: Q700 model change?

I just see now that the  30151LU  model is no longer available.  Any ideas how come?  This had w7 installed and was what I ordered.   It leaves me uncertain as to whether I will even get it.    Well if they don't fullfill my order I can always get something else from someone else.  :smileysad:

Re: Q700 model change?

Just want to say that I have my Q700 LU and it is working well.  It came with windows 7 installed which is what I wanted. No disks so you have to make some restore disks yourself but that is a common practice and anyway I have a set of Windows7 Home Premium disks I ordered early from Amazon for $50 and used to upgrade my laptop.  The Q700 comes with a W7 license sticker on it so I can use that code to do any reinstall if I need to.   It did come with the TV tuner and a remote which I was not sure it would.  I don't need them so I will sell the tuner and remote to anyone who wants it.  I plan to put an Intel TurboMemory card in  instead.  It is quiet and does not appear to have any heat issues for such a small case.  It also came with a  Mcafee Virus Scan plus trial 60 day.

It came with a  piano black thin keyboard with two USB ports - one at each side and was nicer than I expected. The mouse is matching and USB infrared/laser and although I prefer a wireless mouse I can't fault it.  Since I had a $50 off coupon the price was the same as the Vista CU version and I avoided the problems of getting and installing W7. Also I do notice that the flashing blue power light is pretty intense and at night it lights up a dark room in an annoying way.  A piece of black electrical tape over the button solves this nicely and still allows the button to work.

  I'm happy so far!

Q700 model change?

Re: Q700 model change?

Never mind now it is back.. Kinda strange though. Now it lists the W7 version as not shipping for a month or more.  It seems they just can't fingure how to install W7 correctly on this computer at this time.  The thing is there are coupons showing up on the coupon deal sites to get up to $100 off the Vista version and for a hundred bucks off and a free upgrade to W7 it looks like that is the better bet for the price conscious.  To further muddy the waters Dell is about to release their own W7 Mac Mini clone  the  Zino/Inspiron 400. The competition is heating up. The Q700 looks like it has the better processor specs but the Zino has better graphics hardware.

What they need to do with the Q700 is up the processor to a E7500 and make the graphics updated to G45 instead of G43.  Sell that with W7 64bit and 8Gigs memory option. That would make it more impressive.

Re: Q700 model change?

Thanks for the info. I purchased the Q700 during the Vista era :-) and I'm still waiting for the Win7 upgrade.

What about the Windows 7 Media Center software, is running fine?

Windows Media Ceter?

It is there and running.   I managed to lock it up within a few minutes but that's just me- I'm hard on computers

Anyway  the version is 6.1.7600.16385. I'm not familiar with it yet. It seems a bit awkward to use it as an interface to Windows Media player but if you wanted to do it that way it can be done.

Re: Q700 model change?

Looks like the model lineup has changed again. Now there can be only one...

The only model available now is the deluxe LU with tuner larger hardrive etc and windows 7.

Price is $549 What I paid for it two months ago.
