K430 Memory Upgrade & Bios Speed Setting

Am upgrading the memory that came installed in my K430 with Corsair XMS3 8GB sticks to have a total of 32MB. Although the literature for the K430 says that it can take DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) sticks, and they do seem to work great (very fast now), the bios still reports the memory speed at 1333 MHz instead of 1600.

I can't seem to find a way to set the memory speed from the BIOS setup. Is there a jumper or other switch on the motherboard, a bios upgrade, or some other way to be sure the memory is operating at the 1600 speed?

Thanks for any info/help with this issue.  --  Arthur

Re: K430 Memory Upgrade & Bios Speed Setting

Did you ever figure out what was going on? I have a slightly different problem: I've installed 32GB of RAM and the BIOS only detects 16GB. I'm hoping a BIOS upgrade will fix it, but I can't find one.

What OS do you have? From my understanding, Windows 7 Home Premium is only capable of recognizing 16 gbs of ram.

Re: K430 Memory Upgrade & Bios Speed Setting

You are right -- 16 gig max in 64-bit home premium. When I had 24 gig installed the bios recognized it all but only 16 were available for use. Still, the bios is reporting 1333 speed instead of 1600, which is weird in itself. Guess I'll start looking for that Win Ultimate upgrade at a good price. Royal software oftens has discounts on that.

Linux -- it's not the OS. The BIOS says there is only 16GB when I have 4x 8GB modules installed.
